Flag Football

NFL Flag is a youth football league designed to teach kids the fundamentals of American football in a safe, fun, and non-contact environment. It is the official flag football program of the NFL, and it is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 17 (5 to 10 during Fall). The league focuses on promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while also helping participants develop basic football skills like passing, receiving, running, and defense.

In NFL Flag, instead of tackling, players wear flag belts, and the play is "stopped" when a flag is pulled from the ball carrier's belt. The game emphasizes agility, speed, and strategy rather than physical contact, making it a great introduction to the sport of football. Teams are typically divided by age and skill level, and they play games with modified rules to ensure fair competition and safety.

NFL Flag also offers a fun and supportive environment for kids to enjoy the sport without the risks associated with full-contact football. The league is often organized at local levels across the U.S., and it includes opportunities for national championships, giving young athletes a chance to compete at a higher level. Additionally, the NFL brand adds an element of excitement, with official NFL team logos and gear used throughout the league.

2026 SPRING FLAG FOOTBALL

Registration for the 2026 Spring Flag Football Season is now open! This is a Hawks sponsored NFL Flag Football program powered by USA Football. NFL Flag provides opportunities for boys and girls age 5 - 17 to enjoy America's favorite sport. Players benefit by being physically active through non-contact, continuous action while learning the fundamentals of football, lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship.

Registration is open NOW, at an 'Early Hawk' discount rate until the end of the calendar year.

From now until December 31st, parents can take advantage of $25 off of registration. Thereafter, registration will continue to be open until February 21st. An extended registration period will be open through February 28th, 2026 with a LATE FEE of $25 per player. Space is limited and a waitlist will be started as divisions fill so we recommend that you register early to guarantee your child's spot! Division placement for age based divisions is determined based upon players age as of 3/31/2026.

Volunteers make our season possible, so we are implementing a volunteer fee of $75 per family this season. Charged in addition to registration, all families that volunteer will be refunded this fee at the end of the season. This includes head coaches, assistant coaches, snack stand volunteers and line painting.

All divisions are subject to cancellation if we do not have enough volunteer coaches. The Hawks has a strong commitment to supporting our volunteer coaches and we are happy to answer any questions that you may have about taking on the challenge of coaching. REFUND POLICY: We offer a 100% refund through March 14th. From March 14th to April 1st, we will offer a refund minus $40 per player and you will receive your child's jersey and flag belt. After April 1st, there will be NO refunds issued as our season will have started and costs incurred by the organization will be non-refundable.

Games are 5v5, so teams will ideally be formed with 9 to 11 players each. We will form as many teams as possible per division based on number of volunteer coaches.

Regular season games will be held on Saturday afternoons/early evenings (typically between 3pm and 7pm).Practices will be held one night a week at the coach's discretion for scheduling.

Location: Hawks Worthington Field - 273 Lower State Road - Horsham (North Wales on GPS), PA (Also known as Chestnut Creek Parkin the Dennis Landis Football Complex)

There will be Six Divisions (player assigned to division based on age as of 3/31/2026):

- 5-6 yr old Developmental - Focus on FUNdamentals with real games
- 7-8 yr old Semi-Competitive with Bowl games
- 9-10 yr old Competitive with Playoffs
- 11-12 yr old Competitive with Playoffs
- 13-14 yr old Competitive with Playoffs
- High School (grades 9-12) Competitive with Playoffs (games on Sundays) - see High School link

Special Requests:
- If your player's age falls just outside of their preferred division, they can be moved at the request of the parent.
- "Sibling Clause" - A younger brother or sister may play up one division to be with their sibling if they are within 1 year of the age for the older division.

2026 SPRING FLAG FOOTBALL - HIGH SCHOOL

We are excited to bring back the High School NFL Flag Football League for 2026! This is a Hawks sponsored NFL Flag Football program powered by USA Football. Registration is open to all players currently in 9th-12th grade. The field size will be expanded compared to our younger divisions and some rules will be different to accommodate the older players. All teams are formed by coaches in a player draft - no friend or coach requests will be honored, and you cannot enter as a team.

Registration is open from December 15th to December 31st at a discounted rate of $125 + $75 volunteer fee. Thereafter, it will be open until February 21st at a cost of $150 + $75 volunteer fee. An extended registration period will be open through February 28, 2026 with a LATE FEE of $25 per player. Space is limited and a waitlist will be started as spots fill so we recommend that you register early to guarantee your child's participation.

We are implementing a volunteer fee of $75 per family this season. All families that volunteer will be refunded this fee - this includes head and assistant coaches (snack stand is not open on Sundays during games). This is paid upfront with registration, then at the end of the season it is refunded back to families once the volunteer commitment has been fulfilled.

Field Usage:
1.) Fields are to be used during designated times only. Permits are issued by the Township and have specific times associated with the permitting.
2.) Coaches are responsible for the set up and take down of the field - a box will be delivered to your field ahead of the game time which will include pylons, cones, balls and referee equipment.

The Hatboro Horsham Hawks are honored to be able to partner with the NFL and offer this unique experience. Each Player will receive an NFL Team Jersey representing a real NFL team. Your player will also receive a set of official NFL Flag Football flags.

The season will involve simulated games from our youngest division and focus on learning the basics and having fun. For our Older divisions (10U and 13U) your players will compete during a regular season for a spot in the playoffs. Everyone makes the Playoffs but only one team will win it all!

The focus in these competitive divisions is on teamwork, respect, integrity and having fun.

As a busy parent, keeping your child healthy and safe is always a top priority. This information will help you recognize, respond to, and minimize the risk of concussion or other serious brain injury.
